MY STATION NORTH

My Station North: Sounds Surrounding Us was organized by Tim Nohe and Charlotte Keniston. They worked collaboratively with children at Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School to document the Station North neighborhood through sound and photography. Working with digital audio recorders and cameras, five elementary school children gathered interviews, sounds and pictures. In the exhibition visitors heard the music of the streets: trains, chickens, and bee hives; people working to revitalize homes, schools and businesses; artists and entrepreneurs; and the stories of elders and children. The completed surround sound and photography installation ran from June 7 – July 6, 2012. My Station North: Sounds Surrounding Us was supported by a “Think Big” grant awarded through the National Endowment for the Arts; the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, creator of the Baker Artists Awards; Station North Arts & Entertainment, Inc.; and UMBC. (Photography Credit: Tim Nohe)
